「DOKEBI: Korean Fusion Music Concert」

The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is pleased to present DOKEBI, a Toronto-based fusion band rooted in traditional Korean music.

Named after the playful Korean folkloric goblin (dokkaebi), the group, featuring Sangah Lee (pansori vocals), Jay Yoo (guitar), Sienna (piano/flute), and Kklily (Korean percussion), blends intense traditional forms with contemporary influences. Expect a vibrant mix of original music, traditional repertoire, and popular K-pop covers!

The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is excited to team up with the Ottawa Jazz Festival to showcase the sensational Korean band, LEENALCHI.

Who is LEENALCHI?
Leenalchi is a phenomenal seven-piece band from Seoul that draws on pansori—the traditional Korean art of folk musical storytelling—and fuses it with a massive, contemporary sound. Get ready for an infectious, high-energy performance that will have you moving all night.

The KCC is pleased to share that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea (MCST) has opened a call for the 21st class of ‘Friends of Korea’.
Friends of Korea endeavours to correct factual inaccurate overseas information about Korea and take the lead in promoting Facts: Korea to both Koreans and foreigners.
Anyone aged 18 and over, able to communicate in Korean at a sufficient level can apply to become a member.

Hanji and Minhwa: An Encounter

The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is pleased to present <Hanji and Minhwa: An Encounter>, on view from June 25 to August 12, 2026, featuring artists LEE Seung-chul, KIM Kang-mi, KIM Sun-hee, KIM Su-mi, NAM Jung-eun, YUN Su-kyoung, LEE Hee-jin, and IM Jin-sung. This exhibition explores points of intersection between material and time, memory and perception, and tradition and the present through works that reinterpret hanji (traditional Korean paper) and minhwa (Korean folk painting) through a contemporary lens.

The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is pleased to present a hands-on craft program, <Hanji Workshop: Past and Present>, in FRENCH, at the National Gallery of Canada (NGC).

This workshop invites participants to explore the traditional art of Korean ‘hanji’ (mulberry paper) and natural dyeing through a short lecture and hands-on activities. Participants will learn about the materials, techniques, and cultural significance of hanji while experimenting with natural colours made from plant-based ingredients. Through direct experience, the program offers an engaging introduction to Korean traditional craft practices and sustainable art-making methods, while creating opportunities for cultural exchange and creative exploration.
