<What Does That Nature Say to You> (2025), is the <What Does That Nature Say to You> (2025), is the latest Korean film directed by HONG, Sang-soo and selected for the Berlin International Film Festival. It is now playing in theatres across Canada. Don’t miss your chance to experience this remarkable film on the big screen!

*About <What Does That Nature Say to You>

Donghwa, a poet in his thirties, accompanies his girlfriend Junhee to her parents' home for the first time. Struck by the size and beauty of the property, he accepts an invitation to spend the day with her family: her father Oryeong, her mother Sunhee (also a poet), and her younger sister Neunghee. Over the course of a single day filled with home-cooked meals, temple visits, and flowing conversation, the family subtly assesses whether this bohemian poet is worthy of their daughter.

As the makgeolli loosens inhibitions at dinner, polite introductions give way to uncomfortable truths about class, ambition, and artistic authenticity. Shot in Hong's signature lo-fi style, the film builds from amiable observation to sharp confrontation, ultimately revealing the anxieties and duplicities that lie beneath the surface of everyday social interactions.

2026년 3~4월 캐나다 극장에서 개봉하는 홍상수 감독의 베를린 영화제 초청작 <그 자연이 네게 뭐라고 하니> 소식을 공유합니다.

The Self Within Collective The Korean Cultural Ce The Self Within Collective

The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is currently presenting <The Self Within Collective>, an exhibition featuring works by CHOI, Sejin and YOON, Sangyoon. Through painting, the exhibition examines how individual identity is continuously shaped within collective structures.
In this post, we share an interview video in which artist CHOI discusses her practice. The exhibition is on view until June 12.

Artist Introduction: CHOI, Sejin 최세진

CHOI graduated from the Department of Painting at Ewha Womans University in Korea. Her practice centres on painting and drawing. Using children’s perspectives and play, she metaphorically explores patterns that emerge from society’s collective inertia and relational structures imprinted on individuals. She focuses on how norms, gazes, and roles operate within collective cultures, investigating narratives that arise from an individual’s existence, relationships, and roles within each group.

The Korean Cultural Centre in Canada successfully The Korean Cultural Centre in Canada successfully hosted in-person screenings of <Nakdong River> (1952) on March 19 & 20. The film, a classic digitally restored by the Korean Film Archive (KOFA), was presented in collaboration with the International Film Festival of Ottawa (IFFO).

On March 19, Aaron Nam, colourist at KOFA’s Digital Restoration Team, represented Korea in this year’s SAVE AS 2026 programme, delivering a presentation on Korean film restoration and archival practices.

Through the screenings and the presentation, Korea’s excellence in film preservation and restoration was widely showcased, and audiences had a meaningful opportunity to view this historically significant film and participate in a Q&A session.
