The Korean Cultural Centre Canada (KCC) is excited to announce the 7th iteration of Ottawa Korean Film Festival, to be held from October 16 to October 24 in Canada’s capital. ‘Ottawa Korean Film Festival: They Wander’ will present 12 Korean films that explore ghost stories, urban legends, aliens and the occult.

🎬 OKFF 2024: Handsome Guys 🎬
Self-proclaimed tough guy ‘Jae-pil’ and ‘Sang-gu’ move into their dream European-style house. However, when unwanted visitors arrive, a dark aura envelops the house, awakening a sealed evil spirit in the basement.

A Directors Talk with NAM Dong-hyub
After the screening, stay for an exclusive Directors Talk with NAM Dong-hyub, where you’ll get insight into the filmmaking process, inspirations behind the story, and the challenges of creating a movie that blends comedy with elements of the supernatural. Celebration of the 2024-2025 Korea-Canada Year of Cultural Exchanges
The Korean Cultural Centre in Canada hosted a Director's Talk with JEONG Dahee, a member of the Feature Jury for the Ottawa International Animation Festival. On September 29, 2024, at 3:30 PM (ET), her acclaimed short films The Empty (2016) and MOVEMENTS (2019) were screened, followed by an insightful conversation about her creative journey and body of work.

🎬 OKFF 2024: The Sin 🎬
Si-young has been chosen to play the lead role in an experimental art film centred around her dance major. Along with her college friend Chae-Yoon, they perform geometric dance routines as part of a shamanic ceremony directed by the film’s director. However, their world is turned upside down when a production team member suddenly falls from the roof—only for the seemingly lifeless body to stir and come back to life.

Spotlight on Korean Animation at the Ottawa International Animation Festival

In celebration of the 2024-2025 Korea-Canada Year of Cultural Exchanges, the Korean Cultural Centre Canada proudly partnered with the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) to bring you the 'Spotlight on Korean Animation.'

As part of this special program, a selection of Korean short films from 2010 to 2024, focusing on even years, was showcased. Additionally, the feature film Your Letter, directed by KIM Yonghwan, captivated audiences. To enrich the experience, the KCC presented cultural experience booths featuring Korea Culture Boxes at the event venues.

As part of the Ottawa Korean Film Festival (OKFF), the Korean Cultural Centre Canada invites you to an exciting Makgeolli Workshop led by M. Carol Duplain Ing, president of Brasserie Vrooden Inc and renowned makgeolli expert.
This immersive workshop will take you on a journey into the world of makgeolli—a traditional Korean rice wine crafted through the fermentation of rice with a special starter called Nuruk (누룩).

🎬 OKFF 2024: New Normal 🎬
People living lonesome lives. How empty and fragile are the lives of those disconnected from the world, not even knowing the names of their immediate neighbours? All in the name of a busy routine and daily struggle in life?
Director JUNG Bum-shik’s new feature film <New Normal> arrives four years after his hit <GONJIAM: Haunted Asylum>, which is said to have opened a new chapter of Korean horror films. <New Normal> tells eerie and solitary narratives reflecting the isolation and exhaustion in the ‘Hon-Bab'(eating alone) era, which has become a norm.
While his debut film, <Epitaph>, captured four days in old Seoul in 1942 during the turbulent era of Japanese colonial occupation, <New Normal> captures another four days of Seoul in 2022 – another time of upheaval unlike any that has been experienced before. Depicting unexpected risks and hidden dangers from everyday settings, <New Normal> is a horror film for modern-day audiences.
Adding to the tension is stellar casts such as CHOI Ji-woo, LEE Yoo-mi, CHOI Min-ho, PYO Ji-hoon, JUNG Dong-won, and HA Da-in, who deliver performances as ordinary persons only amplify the film’s sense of dread.
