[News] Special Exhibition of Korean Traditional Mi [News] Special Exhibition of Korean Traditional Minhwa (Tracing the Cultural Origins within the Korean Wave – 2026 Korean Minhwa Invitational Exhibition)

The Korean Cultural Centre is pleased to share the exhibition news <Special Exhibition of Korean Traditional Minhwa>, which will take place at the Women’s Art Association of Canada (WAAC) in Toronto from February 3 to February 10, 2026.

Presenting traditional Korean Minhwa through a contemporary lens, the exhibition features works by approximately 50 invited artists, including Seongmi Cho, Kang Lee, and Okgeum Kim, and highlights the symbolic imagery and enduring appeal of Minhwa within the context of the Korean Wave.

Exhibition Information
- Dates: February 3 (Tuesday) – February 10 (Tuesday), 2026
- Venue: Women’s Art Association of Canada (WAAC),
23 Prince Arthur Avenue, Toronto, ON M5R 1B2, Canada
- Participating Artists: Approximately 50 invited artists, including representative artists Seongmi Cho, Kang Lee, and Okgeum Kim
- Organizer: Cultural Business Promotion Association (Korea)

[Korean Traditional Craft Experience Program]
- Dates: February 4 (Wednesday) – February 6 (Friday), 2026
- Eligibility: Exhibition visitors
- Capacity: First 20 participants per day
- Program: Complimentary traditional Dongshim Gyeolknot keyring-making experience

[Cultural Gift Giveaway Event]
Dates: February 4 – February 6, 2026
Method: Random draw among participating visitors
Gift: A muffler inspired by the collar (git) of traditional Korean Hanbok (limited quantity)

16 teams from Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto participated in creating an incredible show.

2025 K-Pop Gala On December 6, the Korean Cultura 2025 K-Pop Gala

On December 6, the Korean Cultural Centre  Canada hosted the ‘2025 K-Pop Gala’ at the Algonquin Commons Theatre. Students from the K-Academy presented their work from the semester as a part of this year’s gala. The program featured performances by the KCC Korean Traditional Dance class, K-Pop Vocal class, Nanta & Samgomu class, and K-Pop Dance class, as well as a student exhibition showcasing works from the KCC Sagunja & Minhwa class and the Hanji Craft class.

As the students visited downtown for their picnic, the KCC introduced one of Korea’s most iconic picnic dishes - "Kimbap"
And we were genuinely impressed by how beautifully the students rolled their own Kimbap!

A fun day of culture, food, and creativity 🇰🇷✨

In Korea, as winter approaches, neighbours and fam In Korea, as winter approaches, neighbours and families come together to make Kimchi—a cultural tradition known as ‘Kimjang’.

On Monday, December 8, the KCC brought this tradition to Centretown by inviting our neighbours to join us in making Kimchi. Despite the cold and snowy weather, everyone braved the weather to show up and enjoyed freshly made Kimchi paired with delicious ‘suyuk’ (boiled pork slices).

The event came to an abrupt end due to unforeseen power outage in the area. As such, we are very disappointed that two of the cover dance teams - SolarV and Unit One, could not present their performances as planned. We extend our sincere apologies to both teams and look forward to seeing their outstanding performances in the future.
